We are not solicitors, barristers or legal executives. We are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We are not a claims management company and we are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and it should not be treated as a substitute for advice about your specific situation.

What we are is a publisher. We read the legislation, the government guidance and the Housing Ombudsman's published decisions, and we write down what they say in language that does not require a law degree. Every page cites its sources so you can check us.

What we do not do

  • We have no enquiry form. There is nowhere on this site to enter your name, address or phone number, because we have no use for them.
  • We do not refer anyone to solicitors. We do not have referral arrangements, we are not paid per enquiry, and we do not pass details to claims companies.
  • We will never contact you out of the blue. If someone rings, texts or knocks claiming to be from this site, it is not us.
  • We do not tell you to make a claim. For most damp and mould problems the free complaints route works, and we say so.
Why this matters

Housing disrepair is one of six sectors where claims management is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Seeking out potential claimants, identifying claims, or referring claimant details to a solicitor are all regulated activities that require authorisation. We do none of them. In 2026 the government ran a call for evidence on exactly these practices in housing disrepair, and both the FCA and the SRA have raised concerns about how tenants are approached. We think the safest thing for a tenant is a site that has nothing to gain from your details.
